A Matter of Life and Death

The kids were a nightmare last night, and you’re running late this morning; no time to prepare a `proper’ lunch. It’s such a frequent situation that the wallet’s feeling the pressure of eating out too often. What’s the answer?!
Two Minute Noodles
Long the staple diet of students, musicians & backpackers, a few extra touches can make this handy snack into an important part of the office worker’s diet.
So here’s what you do.
Before running out the door, throw whatever vegies you can into a container (a carrot, a tomato, a stick of celery, a mushroom, whatever) and grab your noodles. This should take less than a minute.
Come lunchtime break up the veggies (I don’t even bother with a knife most times) into a microwave tub with hot water and the noodles and nuke it for… wait for it… presuming there’s a microwave at work of course… two minutes!
Yum
Now, if you don’t have any veggies at home, and there isn’t a veggie stand or supermarket near your work, you may have to have plain noodles. But that’s OK; they’re still pretty yummy, (but not very filling or healthy). So don’t eat them plain like that too often.
I was a student, I am a musician, I have backpacked and I do work in an office, so I know what I’m talking about.
Actually, here’re another couple of tricks:
Buy a bottle of veggie juice and leave it in the fridge at work, as an emergency substitute for real food. Heck, leave a five-pack of noodles in your draw at work and you won’t even have to grab them in the mad rush from home.
And remember to get the noodles from the Asian food section. They’re normally nicer and come with extra flavouring options and satchels of dried interesting miscellaneous floaty bits.
Two Minute Noodles! I love ’em
Earl.
